12th Annual Sand Castle Building Competition: Put your artistic sand castle building skills to the test. Join us at North Beach. Building starts at 12pm sharp. Judging is at 2pm. Prizes to the top 5 castles in Team Build, Adult Individual, Young Adult Individual, Kid Individual. Park entrance fees apply.

Awards are given to the top five entries in each division. Judging is based on creativity, craftsmanship, and overall design.

About the Event
The 11th Annual Sand Castle Building Competition is one of Yuba State Park’s signature summer events. Families, friends, and teams compete to build creative sand sculptures along North Beach. Whether you’re an experienced sculptor or just want a fun afternoon at the lake, the competition is designed for all ages and skill levels.
Tips
- Arrive before noon to register and choose a good building spot.
- Bring extra water, as July temperatures around Yuba Reservoir often exceed 90°F.
- Wear water shoes—the sand can become very hot in the afternoon.
- If you plan to stay for the day, consider bringing a picnic or reserving a campsite in advance.
